Judge lends accused gangster tie for trial of Vincent 'Gorgeous' Basciano for murder

Judge lends accused gangster tie for trial of Vincent 'Gorgeous' Basciano for murder : "He's on trial for murder, so it's not surprising that mob boss Vincent Basciano would want to put his best face forward.

But when he panicked over facing the public without a tie today, help came from an unexpected quarter - the judge.

Basciano, nicknamed 'Gorgeous' for his usually-coiffed hair and dapper suits, was just minutes away from appearing at the Brooklyn Federal Court in New York today when he panicked about his informal garb.

He was clad in just a grey suit and a white shirt.

His lawyer George Goltzer brought the issue to the attention of Judge Nicholas Garaufis, who did not hesitate.

He immediately offered to lend the accused murderer and organised crime boss the tie he keeps on hand for emergencies."
